A potential suspect in the shooting of New York Jets star Kris Boyd has reportedly been identified less than a week on from the terrifying incident.

Boyd was shot outside popular Asian-fusion restaurant Sei Less in Manhattan at around 2am Sunday, with NBC News reporting Monday that the bullet was still lodged in his lung.

The New York Police Department said on Wednesday evening that the Jets cornerback is now in a stable condition. The shooting had left him fighting for his life.

The following day, NYPD sources told ABC News that they have identified a possible suspect and are looking to question him. They are yet to release any further details about the suspect.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, which is said to have stemmed from another group ‘chirping’ Boyd and two of his Jets teammates about their clothing as they went to leave Sei Less.

To add to the mystery, police also recovered a $185,000 watch at the scene that no one has claimed.

Police said they were looking for a man who fled the scene in a blue BMW after Boyd was shot in the lung. The gunman is believed to have fired two shots near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue.

They released photos of a suspect on Monday, asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

According to the New York Post, Boyd was partying with Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood and wide receiver Irvin Charles at Sei Less – a favorite hotspot of celebrities including Cardi B , 50 Cent, Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg – when they left because he didn’t like the ‘vibe’ amid tension between other groups who were arguing with each other.

One group reportedly started making fun of their fancy clothes, which led to him feeling uneasy in the venue. When he left with Sherwood and Charles just after 2am, a scuffle then broke out on the street and shots were fired, with one of them firing into Boyd’s abdomen.

In footage captured by Leeroy Johnson, police could be seen surrounding the 29-year-old as he lay on the floor. Later on, officers were filmed treating him before he was put on a stretcher and wheeled into an ambulance.

After recovering from the shooting, Boyd broke his silence on Wednesday after sharing a photo of himself smiling in a hospital bed.

He captioned the post: ‘God is real, God is powerful! I’m sorry I have no words at the moment.. Just grateful!

‘I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!’
