The race to trade for Maxx Crosby is rapidly heating up amid growing speculation that the Las Vegas Raiders are finally ready to part ways with their star player.
Thursday is a year to the day that the defensive end signed a new contract in Vegas but in the 12 months since, not much has changed for the better and Crosby was furious at being shut down for the season at the end of 2025.
The potential availability of the 28-year-old has ignited huge interest across the NFL and on Thursday, reporter Jordan Schultz said that teams have started to get the feeling that the Raiders are now open to a trade.
It would take something huge for them to let Crosby leave – perhaps up to two first-round draft picks and a player – but it sounds like there are plenty of teams lining up an offer.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter named three teams he had heard as active in trying to land Crosby, although he ruled one out.
‘I think the (Chicago) Bears have checked in on Maxx Crosby,’ Schefter said. ‘I don’t know if they will be able to get it done in the end.

Rumors are intensifying over the Las Vegas Raiders trading defensive star Maxx Crosby

Crosby, 28, signed a new Raiders deal last March but is now believed to want to leave
‘I think there are a whole bunch of teams in on Maxx Crosby, everybody is sniffing around. That feels like one of those situations where it is quiet now and the volcano is simmering.
‘We are just waiting to see if that volcano erupts and the Raiders decide to move on. The Bears have checked in, the Cowboys have checked in, the Bills have checked in.
‘I would think a trade like this (the Bills traded for DJ Moore on Thursday) probably lessens the chances for the Bills to pull off a deal because you only have so many moves to make for big-game, big-money players.
‘Again, teams find ways to make things happen but it lessens the chance that Buffalo can get things done.’
Another team potentially in the running is the 2024 Super Bowl winners Philadelphia Eagles.
Lane Johnson sparked speculation Crosby could be heading there by randomly tweeting his X handle and a wide-eye emoji.
Last week, Raiders GM John Spytek insisted Crosby will be remaining in Sin City.
‘Maxx is an elite player,’ Spytek said. ‘I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them. And it’s hard to build a great team without elite players.’
Crosby turns 29 in August, however and it would seem this is the offseason where the Raiders could get the biggest haul if they were to trade him.
The Raiders hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, where they are expected to choose quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
