Bayern Munich have secured the services of Luis Díaz from Liverpool in a deal worth £65.5million, marking the German champions’ third-costliest acquisition in their history.
The Colombian winger’s transfer fee places him behind only Harry Kane and Lucas Hernández in Bayern’s spending records.
The 28-year-old international penned a four-year agreement with the Bundesliga side, including an option for an additional season.
His departure from Anfield represents Liverpool’s third-largest transfer receipt, trailing only the sales of Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suárez to Barcelona.

The Colombian had expressed his desire to depart the Premier League champions, having previously sought an exit during the previous summer window.
Díaz shared an emotional farewell on Instagram, expressing gratitude for his three-and-a-half-year stint at Anfield.
“Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together,” the winger wrote.
He praised the club’s supporters, teammates and coaching staff, describing Liverpool as “a special team” that would remain in his heart.

The Colombian’s message took a sombre turn as he paid tribute to former colleague Diogo Jota, who died in a road accident this month.
“It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way,” Díaz stated, adding: “I will never forget him. We will never forget him.”
Liverpool stand to gain a £26m profit from the transaction, having initially acquired Díaz from Porto for £45m in January 2022.

The Portuguese club had negotiated £15m in potential performance-related bonuses, though merely £4m of these were activated during his time at Anfield.
Porto held no sell-on rights in the agreement, ensuring Liverpool retain the full proceeds.
The Colombian’s departure contributes to an impressive £190m generated through player trading since Richard Hughes assumed the sporting director role in June 2024.
This substantial income arrives despite Liverpool’s significant outlay of nearly £300m, including add-ons, during the current transfer window following big deals for the likes of Luis Diaz, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike.
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has emerged as Liverpool’s primary target following Díaz’s departure, though securing the Swedish striker would require breaking the British transfer record.
The Premier League champions recognise such a move would demand unprecedented expenditure for a domestic signing.

Liverpool could use the funds from Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich to sign Alexander Isak
Isak reportedly favours a switch to Anfield, yet Newcastle must first indicate willingness to negotiate for their key forward.
Liverpool’s financial flexibility could increase further, with Darwin Núñez, Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton and Ben Doak all potentially departing before the window closes.
The Merseyside club’s strengthened financial position, bolstered by recent sales, provides the resources necessary for a landmark bid should the opportunity arise.
