LeBron James’ enormous Beverly Hills palace starts to take shape after NBA icon tore down 1930s mansion and started from scratch

LeBron James‘ dream Beverly Hills home is finally coming together almost six years after he demolished the $37million mansion previously on the land.

Back in September 2020, the NBA legend purchased the lavish 1930s property once owned by Katharine Hepburn and immediately tore it down amid plans to erect his own pad.

James eventually received the green light to begin construction work on the plot of land in the summer of 2023, which initially moved slowly after he locked down the relevant permits.

Though less than three years on, his giant California palace is starting to take shape.

New photos obtained by the Daily Mail show off the astonishing size of LeBron’s soon-to-be-completed property, which covers a massive 2.5 acre plot.

The hilltop estate, which Realtor claim will feature two enormous mansions back-to-back, has a pool in the backyard which promises to offer stunning views of the surrounding area.

The two residences will reportedly share a communal driveway secured by a private guard house stationed at the entryway, but each will be given a new address when it’s completed.

The larger of the two spans 16,000 square feet across two stories and will include a 7,700-square-foot basement garage, while providing a spa as well as the backyard pool.

Other luxury amenities include an outdoor kitchen, a basement movie theater, an entertainment room and solar panels.

The 1930s home demolished six years ago was first owned by Hollywood actor Charles Boyer, and then ultimately picked up by Howard Hughes, who leased it to Hepburn.

After Hepburn moved out, the home was owned by non-celebrities for many years, until it was purchased for $2.9m in 1986 by The Young and the Restless creators William Brent Bell and Lee Phillip Bell.

Now James is sculpting his own dream estate on the land amid fierce speculation over his future with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 41-year-old, who is believed to be the first active NBA player to reach billionaire status and still earns more than $52m in annual salary, is set to hit the free-agent market this summer, allowing him to sign with any club that has the salary-cap space to absorb his next contract.

The 41-Year-Old's Future With The Los Angeles Lakers Is The Subject Of Fierce Speculation

The 41-year-old’s future with the Los Angeles Lakers is the subject of fierce speculation

He has been with the Lakers since 2018, but is now being tipped to either retire or leave the franchise amid rumors of a rift with members of the team’s hierarchy.

After making an emotional return to the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this month, James admitted to gathered media: ‘I don’t know what the future holds for me’.

In the wake of his bombshell comments, NBA insider Jake Fischer has even claimed that the Lakers and their star man are preparing for a ‘divorce’ this summer.

If he does call time on his career, LeBron will still have a vested interest in Los Angeles given his 21-year-old son Bronny also plays for the Lakers.
