Everton are making significant progress in their attempts to secure Manchester City’s Jack Grealish on a season-long loan arrangement.

The 29-year-old England international has reportedly agreed to the proposed transfer to Merseyside after Pep Guardiola informed him he was no longer part of the club’s plans.

David Moyes’s side have indicated they will cover Grealish’s £300,000 weekly salary, a crucial factor in advancing discussions.

The winger’s exclusion from City’s Club World Cup squad in America underlined his diminished status at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spanish manager expressed hope that Grealish could rediscover his best form elsewhere, adding: “The fact is the last two seasons he hasn’t played much minutes and he has to come back to play and get the butterflies back in his stomach.”

Since arriving from Aston Villa for £100 million in 2021, the winger has managed just 17 goals in 157 appearances for the Premier League champions.

The potential acquisition would represent Everton’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window under new ownership from the Friedkin Group.

The club have already brought in striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, goalkeeper Mark Travers and defender Adam Aznou.

Carlos Alcaraz’s loan arrangement from Flamengo has also been made permanent. Moyes returned to Goodison Park in January 2025 and successfully steered the club to a comfortable mid-table finish.

The Toffees begin their Premier League campaign at home to newly-promoted Leeds United this weekend, whilst Manchester City travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers for their title defence opener.
