Great Britain are guaranteed a medal in the men’s curling at the Winter Olympics after securing a tense win over Switzerland in the semi-final.
After the women’s team fell agonisingly short, the men were able to overcome their Swiss opponents in a nail-biting showdown that ended 8-5.
The top two teams in the world battled hard but it was Great Britain who reversed the result of the round robin clash.
The Swiss won every game of that phase but came unstuck against Bruce Mouat and Co in the knockout stage.
Team GB could only watch on as the final stone was sent down and it could have taken the match to another end.
But there was too much heat on it and the Brits celebrated progressing to the final.

Great Britain are guaranteed a medal in the men’s curling after beating Switzerland
Meanwhile, Sophie Jackson’s efforts to emulate Eve Muirhead with a curling gold medal ended after Team GB were dumped out of the Winter Olympics in the round-robin on Thursday.
Having beaten Italy earlier in the day, their slim chance of survival to the semi-finals was eliminated when the United States beat Switzerland in a match that came down to an extra end.
With the Swiss having set a three-stone cordon in front of the scoring house, it seemed Jackson’s side would somehow squeeze through from a poor campaign, but a stunning final shot from Tabitha Peterson of Team USA crept through the tiniest of gaps to pinch the decisive single for a 7-6 win.
With the victory, the US moved on to the final four and Britain, champions in 2022, were dumped out. Four defeats in the first six matches of the round-robin ultimately proved decisive in their failure to repeat the gold from 2022 via a reconfigured quartet of Jackson, Sophie Sinclair, Jennifer Dodds and Rebecca Morrison.
Sinclair said: ‘We knew we just had to get that win today and see what happens.
‘Gutted. Absolutely gutted, but so proud of the team and the girls. We had a tough start to the week.
