Former Man Utd star speaks out after finding new club following jail sentence: ‘My biggest regret’

Hull City have secured the services of Brandon Williams on a twelve-month contract, marking the defender’s return to professional football after more than a year away from the sport.

The former Manchester United player had been without a club since his Old Trafford contract expired.

The 24-year-old’s signing follows a successful trial period with the Championship side during pre-season, where he featured in friendlies against Sunderland and Getafe. His deal includes an option for an additional twelve months.

Williams last played competitively in December 2023, having spent nearly 20 months away from team football before joining Hull.

“It’s a big regret and I’ve learned from my mistakes. I was still a young boy and I’m grown up now. My focus is back on football and that’s all I want to do now.”

The legal proceedings concluded earlier this year, with Williams acknowledging his errors in judgement.

The defender revealed he had lost his passion for the sport and made a conscious choice to step away from professional football.

“I took action to step away from the game but I feel like I managed it well,” Williams explained to BBC Radio Humberside.
