Retired MLB superstar Mark Teixeira is projected to win the Republican primary for Texas’s 21st congressional district.
The three-time All-Star and 2009 World Series champion defeated a crowded GOP field to secure the nomination, according to projections from Decision Desk HQ.
Teixeira is running to succeed Representative Chip Roy, who vacated the seat to launch a bid for Texas Attorney General.
The victory follows a high-profile endorsement from President Trump, who took to Truth Social to praise the Yankees legend as a ‘TOTAL WINNER, on and off the field!’
‘I know Mark well, and he is a TOTAL WINNER, on and off the field! An MLB All-Star, Mark’s career was ‘loaded up’ with Accolades and WINS, including five Gold Gloves, three Silver Sluggers, and a World Series Championship,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.
‘Mark has a great wife, Leigh, and three beautiful children,’ he continued. ‘In Congress, Mark will work hard to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Champion School Choice, Safeguard our Elections, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.’

Before entering the political arena, Teixeira established himself as one of the premier switch-hitters in the history of the game across a storied 14-season career.
He burst onto the scene with the Texas Rangers in 2003, quickly becoming a fan favorite by hitting over 150 home runs during his five seasons in Arlington.
However, it was his move to the Yankees in 2009 that cemented his legacy, as he led the American League in home runs and RBIs while guiding them to a World Series title.
Teixeira retired with five Gold Glove Awards and three Silver Sluggers, finishing his career with 409 home runs and a reputation as one of the most consistent power hitters of his generation.
