West Bromwich Albion have sacked Eric Ramsay as their head coach after only nine games at the helm.

The 34-year-old was appointed on a two-and-a-half-year deal on January 11 following the departure of Ryan Mason.

However, the Baggies have only gone backwards under the ex-Manchester United coach – failing to win any of his games in charge.

Upon taking over, West Brom sat 18th in the table and seven points clear of the relegation zone. Now they sit just one point above the drop.

The final straw for the Hawthorns hierarchy came on Tuesday night following a 1-1 home draw with Charlton Athletic.

George Campbell ended Albion’s 405-minute wait for a goal by heading his side in front in the third minute of time added on before half-time.

But Lyndon Dykes rescued a point for the Addicks in the 70th minute to seal Ramsay’s fate.

Soon after 11pm the club released a statement confirming they had sacked the Welshman.

‘West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men’s first team head coach Eric Ramsay. Assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns,’ they wrote.

‘First-team coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis.’

Ramsay joined West Brom following a spell in Major League Soccer with Minnesota United, who he led to back-to-back Conference play-off semi-finals.

Prior to his move to the United States, was a first-team coach at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag and took on an assistant coach role with the Wales men’s team.

Ramsay, who became the youngest British coach to earn his Uefa Pro Licence in 2019, joined United as a coach in 2021 under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He left the Old Trafford outfit in February 2024 – having helped the club with the Carabao Cup the season before under Ten Hag.
