Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz plans to return for his 14th season in the NFL – despite suffering an apparent career-ending injury last year.

The 35-year-old, who left the field in tears after tearing his ACL during a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in December, is expected to be cleared right around Week 1 of the 2026 season, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Ertz first joined the NFL in 2013 and has been with the Commanders since 2024. He moved to the nation’s capital after spells with the Lions, the Cardinals and the Eagles.
