Huddersfield Town’s pacy prospect Cameron Ashia is attracting interest from Rangers, Hearts and English Championship clubs.

The 20-year-old, who is the nephew of Nottingham Forest‘s Callum Hudson-Odoi, is forging a reputation of his own as a fleet-footed wideman with a series of impressive performances in League One.

He has made 26 appearances this season – though only eight from the start – and scored six goals plus three assists but he is out of contract in the summer and that has alerted clubs north of the border and in the Championship.

Born in London, Ashia was spotted by scouts from Derby County while at the Fox Soccer Academy showcase in New York in 2022.

He spent a season with Derby before being released but has been dogged in his determination to make the grade and, after impressing in an extended trial with Huddersfield, the Terriers gave him a professional contract then an extra year.

Senior professionals and management have praised his willingness to learn and take advice on board, and he has even drawn comparisons with a raw Jeremy Doku of Manchester City with regard to his pace and willingness to take on the opposition.

Ashia contributed another assist on Saturday as Huddersfield beat Yorkshire rivals Barnsley 2-1 to further their hopes of making the promotion play-off places.

They are currently in sixth place as they try to stay ahead of Reading who are four points behind but have a game in hand.
