Oliver Glasner has admitted he wants the Crystal Palace board to make ‘one or two’ more signings this summer following their Community Shield win over Liverpool.

After a 2-2 draw that saw Hugo Ekitike, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Jeremie Frimpong and Ismaila Sarr all find the net, it was left to penalties to separate the two sides in west London.

Oliver Glasner has admitted he wants the Crystal Palace board to make ‘one or two’ more signings this summer following their Community Shield win over Liverpool

Palace are heading upwards under the 50-year-old. However, speaking to TNT Sports after his team’s victory, Glasner admitted he was seeking more reinforcements as they target more silverware going forward.

“I’m very happy with the squad because of course they won the trophy,” he admitted.

“But I don’t want to complain about plenty of games, because you see that as a reward.

“If we don’t win the FA Cup, then we don’t talk about European football.

“But we want to win something, we want to play European football. We will be ready for it.

“But of course, if somebody needs a break – such as Daichi Kamada [who was injured] today and maybe we will miss him at Chelsea – and we need just maybe adding one or two players.

“It’s not that I have to tell the chairman or somebody, we know it is about finding the right ones. I’m pretty sure we will find the right ones.

“We’re looking for really clear profiles, great characters, you can see the spirit and the togetherness in the group.”

Crystal Palace had to come from behind twice to beat Liverpool in the Community Shield

Other Palace stars have also reacted to the shock result.

Henderson, who was outstanding as the Eagles beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup earlier in the year, admitted he was delighted.

And the England international also revealed that Glasner was always confident they could secure victory, despite Palace falling behind twice.

Henderson said: “I love the big moments.

“I love being in that pressure moment. The homework we did on penalties was great.

“They have unbelievable players and have a great team but two trophies in three months is incredible.

“These emotions are fantastic. With them 2-1 up you think we are out the game. The manager said we’d get chances and we did.”

And striker Mateta admitted he was eager for another trip to Wembley later in the year.
